How does the pneumatic connection between vehicle and trailer work?
Two hoses, two colours
In a dual-line trailer braking system, the supply line, marked red, delivers compressed air to the trailer reservoir, and the control line, marked yellow, transmits the braking signal. Swapped hoses prevent the trailer brakes from working properly, so the colours and coupling heads must match.
Why a coiled hose?
The coil extends when the combination turns and returns to its original shape when straightened, so the hose does not sag or rub against the frame. HYBSZ polyurethane hoses are resistant to twisting, kinking, abrasion and bending.
Before replacing a hose
- Thread: check the thread size in the vehicle connectors — M16, M18 or M22.
- Colour: choose according to the function of the hose in the system.
- Coupling heads: when replacing a hose, check the condition of the seals in the coupling heads.
