How to choose a reflector for your vehicle?

Colour and mounting position

  • White: front reflector.
  • Amber (also called "yellow" in product names): side reflector.
  • Red: rear reflector.

Triangular or rectangular and round?

Class IIIA triangular reflective devices are intended for the rear of trailers, semi-trailers and towed machines — they are not fitted to motor vehicles. Non-triangular shapes, e.g. rectangular or round, are used on the rear of cars and as front or side reflectors.

Mounting

  • Two bolts: permanent fixing, 70 mm hole spacing on rectangular reflectors and framed triangles.
  • One M5 bolt: round reflectors mounted in a single hole.
  • Self-adhesive tape: no drilling — clean and degrease the surface before sticking.

When to replace a reflector?

A cracked, faded or heavily dulled reflector reflects headlights less well, so it is worth replacing it with a new one of the same colour and similar shape.
