Driving or fog?
A driving (long-range) lamp lights the road far ahead of the vehicle — useful on unlit roads outside built-up areas. A fog lamp has a wider, lower beam that reduces glare from light reflected by fog. Some models combine both functions in one housing, sometimes with a position light as well.
Halogen or LED?
The halogen version uses a replaceable bulb (usually H3) and is cheaper to buy. The LED version has permanently built-in diodes — a higher initial cost, but no bulbs to replace.
Mounting
The lamp can be mounted hanging (on a bracket under the bumper or frame) or standing (on a bracket on the front of the body) — the mounting type depends on the model and its position on the vehicle.
