How to choose electrical accessories?
Bulbs
A bulb is chosen by three parameters: type (e.g. H4, P21/5W, W5W), base (e.g. P43t, BAY15d, W2.1x9.5d) and voltage. A 12 V bulb in a 24 V system will quickly blow, and a 24 V bulb in a 12 V system will glow weakly or not at all. The dual-filament P21/5W combines the position light and the stop light in one bulb.
Sealed connectors
- Superseal: a kit for assembling a 2-pin connector yourself — terminals are crimped onto the wires, no soldering; seals protect the connection against moisture and dust. A Superseal T-connector lets you branch a circuit.
- Deutsch type: 2-pin plug + socket set with terminals and seals, used in commercial vehicles and agricultural machines.
Heat-shrink tubing
When heated, heat-shrink tubing reduces its diameter and wraps tightly around the joint, insulating it and protecting it mechanically. Choose the pre-shrink diameter so that the tube slides freely over the connector, and the post-shrink diameter smaller than the cable diameter. RC 25.4/12.7 tubing shrinks at a 2:1 ratio.
